1️⃣ What blades does it use? The Henson AL13 is compatible with any standard double-edge (DE) safety razor blade. These are widely available worldwide in pharmacies, supermarkets and online. Any brand works — Astra, Feather, Derby, Gillette Silver Blue, Wilkinson Sword and more.
2️⃣ How to load the blade: Unscrew the handle from the razor head. The head separates into two pieces — the top cap and the base plate. Place your double-edge blade flat on the base plate. Make sure the base plate channels are facing UP — this is the most common beginner mistake. Reassemble the top cap over the blade and screw the handle back on firmly.
3️⃣ How tight to screw it? Finger-tight is enough. Do not over-tighten. The blade should sit flat and secure with no wobble.
4️⃣ How to shave: Hold the razor at a 30–35 degree angle to your skin. Use light, gentle strokes — let the weight of the razor do the work. No pressure needed. Rinse the blade under water between strokes.
5️⃣ How often to change the blade? Typically every 5–7 shaves depending on your hair thickness. When the blade starts to drag or feel less smooth, it is time to replace it.
